District Cub Chess Competition
18th January 2014
1st Southwold, Bicester
North Oxfordshire District Cub Chess Competition was held at the HQ of 1st Southwold at Bicester on this Saturday afternoon.
Eight Packs took part, entering up to three Cubs per Pack. Unfortunately, our third Cub had to drop out at the last minute but we were ably represented by William Hamer and Dante Simons.
The 23 Cubs taking part were split into three groups so no Cub from the same Pack would end up playing each other.
Playing a total of seven games each, Dante won four games and lost three thus making him the runner up in his group with a total of 15 points out of 21 points.
William won six of his games and drew one therefore, with a total of 20 points out of 21 points, was the winner of his group, and in fact got the highest points of the afternoon.
Normally, the three winners of each group would go on to represent North Oxfordshire at the County Chess competition but, due to a restructure of County events, this is not taking place this year.
Many many congratulations to both William and Dante whose sportsman like behaviour during the course of the competition was a credit to 7th Banbury. To see the photos, click here...
