Pack visit to Fir Tree Falconry
9th July 2015
Fir Tree Falconry
Twenty two Cubs with four Leaders turned up for this evening at Fir Tree Farm on a beautiful warm sunny evening, which made ideal conditions to watch a short flying display conducted by Dian Saunders, the owner of the Falconry.
Kasper the Kestral and Deano the Great Grey Owl were two of the birds of prey who flew for us with Dian, at the same time, telling us interesting facts about the birds and their flying.
The Cubs were then split into two groups where one group met a little owl called Mr Grumpy and each Cub and Leader were able to hold him on a gloved hand while again, Dian told us some more interesting facts about Mr Grumpy and owls in general.
Meanwhile, Dian’s husband Shaun was giving the other group a guided tour of the Falconry where they met and learnt about the various birds of prey from around the world. The groups then swapped over so everyone could handle Mr Grumpy and tour the Falconry.
Before too long our visit was over but Dian and Shaun had both made us very welcome, told us so many interesting facts about the birds of prey and answered many questions from the Cubs. All in all a very enjoyable and informative Pack evening.
