7TH BANBURY SCOUT GROUP

Project Climbing Wall

WHAT ARE WE RAISING FUNDS FOR?

We are planning to build a Climbing Wall on the inside of our headquarters!

The building was originally designed with a Climbing Wall in mind, with a double-height end wall and balcony viewing area. We are pleased to now be in a position where we can make the original idea a reality.

We are also looking for adults to help on a sub-committee which will look after the project, so if you think you can help, let us know!

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The proposed climbing wall will be a safe and accessible facility for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts aged 6-18 to learn and practice climbing skills. It will feature varying difficulty levels to accommodate beginners and advanced climbers alike. Those who may be afraid of heights and benefit from the option to boulder along the bottom of climbing wall. The wall will adhere to safety standards and be overseen by trained instructors to ensure the well-being of participants.

BENEFITS

  • Physical Fitness: Climbing promotes strength, agility, and coordination, contributing to the overall health and fitness of participants.
  • Skill Development: Climbing fosters problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork skills as scouts work together to navigate the wall.
  • Indoor Education: The climbing wall will complement our scouting program, offering practical indoor skills and fostering an appreciation for nature and adventure while inside.
  • Inclusivity: The climbing wall will be accessible to scouts of all abilities, promoting inclusivity and diversity within our community.
